DOE agrees to pursue alternative storm water management plan
The Washington State Department of Ecology (DOE) has agreed to work with Clark County in pursuit of a workable storm water pilot program. In a letter to House Environmental Committee Chairman Dave Upthegrove (D-Des Moines), DOE Director Maia Bellon explained that Clark County and the DOE “have arrived at a common understanding of the barriers that must be overcome” in storm water management.
“This letter basically allows Clark County to begin working with Ecology right now to develop the pilot program outlined in my bill,” said Pike. “We don’t have to take our chances with this bill being killed in a rules committee, in any of the fiscal committees or in one of the chambers. It’s about the best outcome we could have hoped for.
