Walmart announces new “Neighborhood Market” at former WinCo location

Walmart has announced plans to develop a “Neighborhood Market” in Vancouver at the site of the former WinCo Foods near the intersection of NE Fourth Plain Rd. and Vancouver Plaza Drive.

At 43,000 square feet, the store will be about a quarter of the size of a typical Walmart Supercenter. It is expected to create approximately 95 jobs.

“The opportunity to be part of the solution when it comes to bringing groceries back to that community, giving people a choice where they are shopping for the groceries for their family and providing jobs was a key part of that decision making,” said Rachel Wall, Walmart’s senior manager of community affairs.

The store is anticipated to open fall 2013.
