Small jurisdictions concerned over proposed fee removal

A proposal being considered this month by Clark County Commissioners to eliminate development fees in an effort to grow the economy has officials in some of the area’s smallest jurisdictions worried. On May 28, commissioners will vote on a resolution to temporarily waive all fees associated with permitting, development, inspection, traffic impacts and building.

Despite the concern, Clark County Commissioner David Madore said that the elimination of fees will ultimately result in prosperity for all of Clark County.

“There’s still a benefit to cities in Clark County because the more people that go to work – even in the unincorporated areas – the more the economic engine is going… People don’t look at property lines when it comes to where they’re going to spend their income,” he added.
