The public is invited to hear updates and learn more about the Port of Vancouver USA’s waterfront development project during a pair of events next week.
On Tuesday, July 14, the port will hold a commission workshop at noon with Leland Consulting Group. The port hired the Portland-based firm last December to analyze the feasibility of developing a multi-use commercial building on the port’s 13 acres of waterfront property at Terminal 1.
The following day, July 15, the port will host a public open house from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Terminal 1 amphitheater on the Columbia River waterfront. Attendees can stop by anytime to view concepts for redeveloping the port’s waterfront property, talk with project staff, submit comments, take a survey and more. The event will also feature walking tours, a kids’ activity area and light refreshments.
The port’s Terminal 1 development is part of an overall effort by the port, city of Vancouver and Columbia Waterfront LLC to revitalize the downtown Vancouver waterfront. The three organizations have been partnering for more than a decade to modernize infrastructure and develop a vibrant new community along the Columbia River.
The port is currently moving through its master planning process and expects to present a report later this summer. The entire master planning and feasibility process is expected to be complete by the end of the year.
