Poll results show lack of support for elimination of sales tax exemption

poll-thumbAn unscientific poll shows that the majority of our readers oppose Governor Inslee’s proposal to eliminate the sales tax exemption for Oregon residents as a way to help balance the budget.

64 percent of poll participants said they oppose the idea, while just 34 percent voted in support.

On Friday, the state Senate passed a $33.21 billion tentative 2013-2015 budget. It did not include tax exemption closures or any new taxes, setting the stage for tense negotiations with House Democrats.
