PeaceHealth and Providence Health & Services – Oregon have made a $35,000 home sponsorship for the Women Build Program in Vancouver. The gift was made in conjunction with National Women Build Week.
Women Build is a program of Habitat for Humanity International. The donation helped the Evergreen Habitat for Humanity/Women Build committee exceed its fundraising goal of $75,000 for its latest project – constructing a home for a family in need as part of a 10-home subdivision.
“We are beyond grateful to Providence and PeaceHealth for believing in this mission and allowing us to continue to empower women, raise walls, and create hope through Women Build,” said Josh Townsley, executive director of Evergreen Habitat for Humanity, in a press release.
In addition to the donation, caregivers at PeaceHealth and Providence will be invited to volunteer and serve together in the construction of the Women Build home.
The Women Build program enables women to help eliminate poverty housing by building homes and communities. Evergreen Habitat for Humanity built its first Women Build home in 2012.
Habitat for Humanity homes are sold at cost with zero percent loans. Families provide 500 hours of sweat equity, either by working on their own home or the home of a neighbor.
