PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center has received a three-year certification of its cardiovascular rehabilitation program by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR).

The medical center’s cardiovascular and pulmonary rehabilitation program has received numerous accreditation honors for the past 25 years. In 2014, the program saw more than 6,300 patients.

“Certified AACVPR programs are recognized as leaders in the field of cardiovascular and pulmonary rehabilitation because they offer the most advanced practices available,” explained Michael Ontkean, M.D., medical director of PeaceHealth Southwest’s cardiovascular rehabilitation program. “We are proud to provide continued support of our patients as we work together to help them achieve better heart health.”

Cardiovascular and pulmonary rehabilitation programs are designed to help people with cardiovascular problems (heart attacks, coronary artery bypass graft surgery) and pulmonary problems (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease- COPD, respiratory symptoms) recover faster and improve their quality of life.
