Humane Society walk/run nets $58,000

The 22nd Annual Walk/Run for the Animals, a fundraiser held earlier this month to benefit animal care at the Humane Society for Southwest Washington, raised $58,000 to support animal rescue efforts at the shelter.

More than 1,200 people attended the May event, which was held at Esther Short Park in Vancouver.

“We’re grateful for the support of the community in helping support animals in our care,” said Stacey Graham, executive director of the Humane Society for Southwest Washington. “Money raised at the Walk/Run will help care for more than 10,000 [animals] that we see at the shelter each year.”

Next year’s Walk/Run for the Animals is scheduled for Saturday, May 3.
