“There will be no animal intake or animal adoptions on Mondays, except for intake from animal control officers,” said Stacey Waddell, HSSW interim executive director. “In-shelter animal care will continue to be a priority seven days a week and will be a shared task between shelter staff and volunteers. Proper care for the animals in our shelter, including providing them with adequate feeding schedules, medical attention, hygiene and exercise, will not be compromised.”
In addition to the reduction in days the shelter is open to the public, the organization said it will alter its public hours during the remaining six days.
“We hope that these are temporary reductions and that 2013’s income picture will be much brighter,” said Waddell. “We are committed to continued care of the homeless and stray animals of Clark County, as well as assisting families by providing the resources they need to care for and keep their pets during challenging economic times.”
