Hanke was first elected in 2002 and again in 2008. Prior to his retirement, he spent 15 years as executive director at the Port of Vancouver. Before that, he held a series of administrative positions during a 15-year career at Clark Public Utilities.
Hanke has also served on numerous boards and committees, including the Greater Vancouver Chamber of Commerce and the Vancouver Visitors and Convention Bureau. He is presently a member of the Executive Board for the Columbia River Economic Development Council.
