Gougér Cellars introduces wine-flavored ice cream

Ridgefield-based Gougér Cellars has released a non-alcoholic merlot-flavored ice cream. Winemaker Gary Gougér said he came up with the dessert idea three weeks ago, and plans on introducing additional wine-inspired flavors in the coming months.

“I’ve made several flavors and each one that I’ve tested people have loved,” he said. “I first made 20 pints of the merlot and it sold out in two days.”

Gougér has partnered with Ice Cream Renaissance to produce the dessert, which, for now, is exclusively available at the Ridgefield winery (26506 NE 10th Ave). Pints sell for $7.50 each.

Gougér hopes to have 10-12 wine-inspired ice cream flavors available by next summer.
