The Free Clinic of Southwest Washington has received a $7,000 grant from the ESCO Foundation. The grant will partially fund x-ray and ultrasound services for about 140 of the clinic’s low-income, uninsured patients.
Getting an x-ray and receiving needed care often means that patients can remain at or return to work, as ultrasounds and x-rays allow clinic volunteer providers to better understand the severity of a complaint or injury and treat it properly. Care providers use the images to diagnose conditions ranging from arthritis to lung cancer.
“Imaging reassures our patients,” said Dr. Stephen Ebner, an orthopedic specialist who volunteers regularly at the Free Clinic. “Knowledge is powerful. It can relieve worry for people who already face plenty of life challenges.”
Based out of Portland, the ESCO Technologies Foundation is dedicated to providing financial support to charities and others in need, focusing on children and families in communities where ESCO Technologies Inc. has operations. The Foundation’s goal is to make a measurable difference to each charity and respective community.
