Fred Meyer donates more than $18,000 to Legacy Salmon Creek with help from customers

Fred Meyer customers and employees donated $18,411.57 to Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center’s cancer services as part of their giving campaign.

The money was raised during a three-month period last fall, through change dropped into checkstand coin boxes at all seven Fred Meyer stores in Clark County. Fred Meyer employees in Clark County also donated to the Fred Meyer Fund, the company’s corporate foundation.

Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center’s cancer services programs serve more than 3,600 people annually. Funds from Fred Meyer will be used to offer free mammograms to those who otherwise could not afford them.

“We thank Fred Meyer customers and employees here in Clark County for helping us to expand the reach of our services to those most in need. Their generosity will change lives,” said J. Michael Schultz, executive director of Salmon Creek Hospital Foundation.
