First Independent Bank announced that it has provided $5,000 grants for education to three organizations in the Vancouver area. A $5,000 grant went to the Teaching Learning Center at Clark College to provide for professional development for faculty and staff. A $5,000 grant was also awarded to PeaceHealth to support continuing education for clinical staff. Finally, a third $5,000 grant went to the Salmon Creek Hospital Foundation to assist employees with clinical training.
Alan Hamilton, senior manager of community investments for First Independent, said the grants reflect a long commitment to supporting education.
“This has long been an important focus for us and we believe it is more critical than ever with the economic downturn and the cost of education continuing to increase,” he said.
