Since 2009, EPS has saved more than seven million dollars through strategic energy efficiency projects.
According to District Resource Conservation Manager Dave Cone, energy-saving projects have ranged from more efficient lighting to a new heating system recently completed at Wy’east Middle School.
“We have seen a really big savings at Wy’east this year, after replacing rooftop heating and cooling units and installing heat recovery wheels and heat pumps,” said Cone. “The biggest savings has come through new demand limiting programs that keep the building’s peak demand charges down.”
The Energy Star award will be presented at a ceremony in Washington, D.C. on March 26.
