Erik Runyan Jewelers is moving to the newly construction Hudson Building at 5th and Main streets in downtown Vancouver.
The move from 900 Washington Street, where the company has been located since 1991, is scheduled for January 2017, as the store prepares to celebrate its 100th anniversary. The new location is almost identical to where the company’s original storefront was set up in 1917 by W.L. Runyan.
4th generation owner Erik Runyan said he had been searching for a way to celebrate the centennial milestone for two years.
“I’ve been thinking of gala events, new product lines and even a total store remodel, then suddenly the opportunity for us to move back home to our roots – the location where we began – was a perfect solution,” said Runyan. “The Hudson Building was nearing completion and needed another anchor tenant, they were thrilled with the history we brought to the building and I couldn’t have imagined how fortunate I am to be truly back where it all started.”
The new store will feature vintage hand-carved wood and glass jewelry cases to showcase Runyan’s jewelry selection and to transport guests back to days gone by.
“Our store vision is to be fresh, new and relevant, while at the same time, we have to be aware of our 100 years of history to emulate,” said Leslie Runyan. “We are working with a trusted build-out team and working hard to find the best interior accents to help us tell our family history.”
Areas of emphasis will be on loose diamonds, custom design, bridal, along with jewelry repair and professional appraisal services.
“Our greatest focus will still continue to be customer service and customer education concerning fine jewelry. That will never change,” said Erik Runyan.
An unveiling party will be held on August 16 with project partners J.S. Collard Design, Strong Construction, Ankrom Moisan and Killian Pacific.
