Couvfest NW to promote local music, business

Couvfest NW, a local music festival showcasing Vancouver acts, will take over Main Street between Evergreen and 9th Street September 19-20. The event is organized by Choice Events LLC, the same company that produces Craft Winefest of Vancouver.

The two-day free event will feature 17 bands on two stages over 2 days. There will also be a beer garden with local brews, specialty cocktails and local wine. Proceeds from the beer garden will benefit Vancouver’s Downtown Association.

In addition to celebrating local music, according to Rusty Hoyle, co-owner of Choice Events, Couvfest NW is focused on promoting local business.

“We’re not bringing in food vendors,” he said. “We decided it was best to show people what is available downtown, and the customer can decide which restaurant they would like to visit. We will have a limited amount of snack vendors, a face painter, and Brad from Clark County Historical Society will be there to educate people about the history of Vancouver.”

“We are pleased to be a part of the downtown culture,” added Sherie Szubski, co-owner of Choice Events. “Working with downtown businesses is a great opportunity to help bring them closer together. This original event has a distinct local identity that reflects our region.”

Couvfest will run from noon to 10 p.m. on Saturday, September 19 and noon to 7 p.m. on Sunday, September 20. A portion of Main Street will be closed to automobile traffic for the event.
