County reaches agreement on heating and cooling biomass project

Clark County and Schneider Electric have accepted the recommendation of an independent mediator to resolve contractual issues for a central heating and cooling system for county buildings downtown.

The county has agreed to pay $292,500 for the first two phases of the county-approved project and a portion of additional expenses. The payment resolves all issues between the two parties.

The plant was expected to generate heat in downtown Vancouver for county buildings, with additional electricity for sale to other customers. The project was terminated based on changing market conditions.
