According to the group, the property, located at 785 Lakeshore Drive, will be combined with a bordering .9-acre parcel of land (donated by Benno and Klazina Dobbe) to make way for a new community center and swimming pool.
The WCSPC intends to sell the industrial property it currently owns at Glenwood and Columbia streets to offset most of the acquisition costs of the Lakeside Motel Property. Revenue from the continued motel operation will be used to offset monthly payments on the property prior to construction, the organization said.
A comprehensive fundraising campaign involving the WCSPC and YMCA is expected to launch this spring.
