The city of Kelso has given the green light to Boise-based Inovus Solar to construct a community solar-electric system.
Unanimously approved on Tuesday night by the Kelso City Council, the project will provide solar energy and savings to approximately 40 local residents who are selected to participate.
“We are pleased to be a community solar project sponsor and provide an opportunity for Kelso residents to benefit from the clean energy produced,” said Kelso Mayor David Futcher. “With limited staffing available to administer projects like these, it’s often difficult for small cities to take advantage of state and federal incentive programs. Partnering with Inovus Solar allows us to support Washington State’s solar industry and pass meaningful energy savings on to our residents without deterring our efforts to provide quality municipal services.”
Inovus will construct the solar-electric system over the summer, utilizing existing infrastructure (light poles). To date, the company has installed solar solutions in more than 300 communities across the country.
