AT&T flips the switch on 4G in Vancouver

AT&T has upgraded its mobile Internet cell sites in Vancouver to bring 4G LTE coverage to area residents and businesses in Vancouver.

The company joins Verizon Wireless as the only cellular service providers in the Vancouver market currently offering LTE. Verizon turned on its LTE network in the Portland-Vancouver area in mid-2011.

4G LTE is the latest generation of wireless network technology, providing faster mobile Internet speeds of up to ten times that of 3G.

“As part of the Vancouver community, we’re always looking for new opportunities to provide enhanced coverage, and our investment in the local wireless network is another way we’re accomplishing that,” said Mike Maxwell, AT&T’s general manager.
