$75,000 gift to benefit Legacy Salmon Creek Child Abuse Assessment Team

Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center’s Child Abuse Assessment Team (CAAT) Endowment has received a gift of $75,000 in memory of Mary J. Martin.

Legacy Salmon Creek launched the CAAT in the fall of 2011, under the leadership of Dr. Kim Copeland. The team provides medical examinations for child victims of sexual and physical abuse and neglect. Dr. Copeland also serves as a regional consultant for child abuse cases throughout Southwest Washington. CAAT is supported in this work by Salmon Creek Hospital Foundation.

Martin was a supporter of and an advocate for Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center since its opening in 2005. She helped build the volunteer program at the hospital and was the first chair of Salmon Creek Hospital Foundation, where she remained a trustee until her death in April 2012.

“Mary gave her heart and soul to Legacy Salmon Creek,” said J. Michael Schultz, executive director of Salmon Creek Hospital Foundation. “Her touch was felt throughout this hospital, and we are pleased and honored that this gift will continue that touch into the future.”
