Local Author and Business Owner Launches Book Tour

SALEM- Lucy Escobar knew that she always wanted to help others, in fact, she believes it was her calling.
After growing up in Torrance, Calif., Escobar got into the banking industry early in her career. That move paved the way for a 20-year run in the Salem area before deciding to pursue her own path as a business consultant and coach.
Fluent in both Spanish and English, she started her own bilingual business company called Lucy Escobar Coaching and Consulting, LLC.
“I’ve been here half my life and I consider it home,” Escobar said of living in the area. “I’ve been part of the community for many years and have helped people achieve their business and professional goals.”
She recently wrote a book on her endeavors and ways to help women achieve and develop their personal and professional goals.
The book is titled Dare To Be a Successful Woman or Atrevete A Ser Una Mujer Exitosa in Spanish, which gives readers tools, strategies and techniques to women who aspire to develop their skills in the personal and professional realm.
Escobar is currently on tour promoting her book and made her first appearance in Salem for a book launch on March 20. Her upcoming stops include Woodburn on April 2, Medford on May 7, Hillsboro on May 18, and a yet-to-be-determined date in Beaverton in June. She also plans future stops in Independence and Eugene.
Additionally, Escobar has been invited to several countries to promote her book including Peru, the Dominican Republic, and Costa Rica.
“Since I was young, I knew I wanted to help people and pursue my passion for business and development in the corporate world,” Escobar said. “I love what I do and believe I was born to be a consultant, so writing this book gives me the opportunity to connect with people in a way I’ve never had before.”
Lucy has a strong and active background in the community and was named the young professional in 2012 by the Salem Chamber of Commerce. She was the co-founder of Latino Business Alliance and currently serves as the president of the High Noon Networkers.
Additionally, Escobar hosts a weekly show on her Facebook page every Monday at 7 p.m. titled “Lunes con Lucy†where she goes over a different topic each week.
“The communities have been very welcoming, and it’s so nice to see all the support,” Escobar said. “It’s a busy year ahead, but I’m honored and excited that cities, community members, and business owners are reaching out to me. The people of Oregon are really getting to know me.”
The book is currently only available in Spanish, but an English version is expected to be released in 2023.
Despite only the non-English version being available, Escobar is still seeing sales by folks who don’t speak or read in Spanish.
“I get a lot of support from non-Spanish speakers,” Escobar said. “They’re buying books to give as gifts. It’s a very rewarding experience.”
