SALEM, Ore. — On a quiet stretch of Portland Rd NE. where the industrial hum of trucks and forklifts hums steadily in the background, a small company is making a big impression—one metal box at a time.
Get Simple Box, a locally owned shipping container provider, has officially opened its expanded Salem yard. But beyond new square footage or extra inventory, the company is doubling down on something less tangible: community connection.
“As far as we know, we are the only container company in our area that sells, rents, and moves shipping containers,” said Brittney Eshuis, Manager of Get Simple Box of Salem. “We’re also locally owned and operated, and with a small team of just four employees, we bring a personal touch and great customer service to every customer.”
It’s a claim backed up by more than just marketing copy. Scroll through the company’s online reviews and a pattern emerges: customers frequently name individual team members, thanking them for their professionalism—and their kindness.
“All of our team lives and works here in Salem,” Eshuis said. “This is our home and we care about our community.”
The expansion into Salem was a strategic one. Centrally located, the site allows Get Simple Box to reach Portland, Eugene, and the coast within an hour. But the city’s atmosphere mattered just as much as its geography.
“Salem is a city with a small-town feel, and that’s the type of community we love because we want to make those personal connections,” said Eshuis. “Almost all of our new customers come from referrals, and that’s the best compliment we could receive.”
While the company offers traditional storage solutions, it’s the custom builds that draw the most attention—from taco trucks and hunting cabins to fire-training units and evidence lockers.
“We love custom jobs,” Eshuis said. “It offers the customer the perfect container for their specific needs. It’s always fun to see what our customers come up with.”
Get Simple Box also emphasizes simplicity and transparency in its pricing model—just three line items: monthly rent, delivery, and pickup. There are no contracts, no surprise fees.
But perhaps the most impactful part of their work happens quietly, outside the sales pipeline. The company has partnered with Church at the Park, a local nonprofit focused on supporting Salem’s unhoused community. Get Simple Box donates more than $1,000 monthly in container rentals and trucking to support transitional shelter sites across the city.
“There are currently 21 Simple Boxes at multiple sites around Salem,” Eshuis noted. “As we grow, we hope to do even more.”
At the grand opening, Get Simple Box also took a moment to highlight the local companies that helped make the project possible—Cascade Landscaping, Connections Electric, and F&W Fencing.
“We are incredibly thankful to every local construction and restoration company who has used us at their job sites, every realtor that has referred us to their clients, and every small business that has used us for extra storage,” said Eshuis. “We wouldn’t be here without this community.”
